On 18 October 2007 the exhibition "Michael Ende. Magische Welten" (Magic Worlds) opens its doors to the public. Original film props, first drafts for the animated pictures, reconstructions of original stage sceneries, fantastic costumes, marionettes – what curators Roman Hocke and Uwe Neumahr have assembled here is magic and wonderful. The catalog will be published by Henschel-Verlag. On 21 February, the exhibition moves on to the Filmmuseum Potsdam.

From October the radio play Der Teddy und die Tiere (The Teddy and the Animals) based on a picture book by Michael Ende will take a place on the list of best audio books of the HR2.

On 6 September 2007 at 6 pm, Der Wunschpunsch (The Night of Wishes) will celebrate its premiere in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The story about the evil sorcerer Irrwitzer will be performed in a production by Margot Schäfer and with music by Helmut Sinz up to 16 September. The performances are part of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen cultural summer programme.

Michael-Ende-Fans and Visitors of Garmisch-Partenkirchen have a new attraction to enjoy: On 1 September 2007 a permanent exhibition dedicated to Michael Ende will be opened. In the Kurhaus in Garmisch visitors can immerse themselves into the world of the popular writer daily between 10am and 6pm. The entrance fee is 3 Euro for adults (2.50 Euro during the cultural summer programme “KULTurSOMMER”) and 1 Euro for children up to the age of 18. After all, Michael Ende was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 12 November 1929.

From 7 December 2007 to 27 January 2008 Die unendliche Geschichte (The Neverending Story) will be performed in the Children's Theatre Seattle. It is one of the biggest and most important children’s theatres in the USA. Most of its productions usually prompt other productions in North America.

It is hard to imagine the book shelves of big and small bookworms without the children’s stories by Michael Ende. The fairytale about the worn old Teddy Washable and his search for a child that loves him, will be published in a new edition by Thienemann Verlag in Autumn 2007. Lovingly illustrated by Cornelia Haas, the “new” old Washable will certainly also find a new home. The audio book CD to go with it will be published also in 2007 by DerAudioVerlag (edel).

Michael Ende’s classic Momo has always been a long seller in Korea. Now, however, the novel about the time thieves has turned into a great bestseller, since the friend of the main character in the popular daily soap "My Name is Kim San Sun" takes time again and again to read Momo to his nephew. Since the TV-soap has gone on air more than 500.000 copies have been sold in Korea in just one year – and the novel that came out in 1999 has turned into a cult.

Within the ZDF-Summer action “Unsere Besten - das große Lesen im Jahre 2004” (Our Favourites – the Big Read in 2004) 250 000 Book lovers have chosen their favourite books. And, of course, among the Top 50 was Michael Ende’s novel Die unendliche Geschichte (The Neverending Story). The cult book, which since its first publishing has been devoured by countless readers, claimed place 10. On 1 October 2004, the most popular books were presented live by Johannes B. Kerner.
